Seungho Moon Award

Congratulations to Dr. Seungho Moon

The School of Education (SOE) is proud to announce that Seungho Moon, EdD, professor of Curriculum Studies in the Teacher and Learning program, has been awarded the 2025 Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Faculty Award for Diversity Leadership.  Dr. Moon received the award during last week's University Convocation.

The Office of Faculty Affairs created this award to recognize the outstanding work of Loyola faculty who go above and beyond to advance the ideals of social justice, equity, and inclusion.

Moon was recognized for the ways in which he advances the ideals of inclusion, belonging, and academic excellence through his teaching and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students. His approach centers on releasing the imagination to promote equity and justice in education.

Moon’s scholarly expertise lies in arts-based inquiry, and he has published three academic books and peer-reviewed journal articles. His scholarship has been recognized with two book awards from the Society of Professors of Education and with Loyola’s School of Education Research Award. He has fostered a partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago and leads workshops in arts-based inquiry as a pedagogy that museum colleagues can utilize.

Together with Dr. Dave Ensminger, he is a co-founding director of the EdD and MEd programs in Curriculum, Culture, and Communities. Moon is highly regarded as a teacher, mentor, and colleague. “Beyond his scholarship and pedagogy,” wrote one of his colleagues, “Moon is a singular kind of mentor, one who is both rigorous and deeply humane.”
